Jon’s story with McCarthy has humble beginnings. As a teenager, he started out by sweeping floors and helping with shipping. That was back when his father, the late Bob Owens, purchased the company
in 1990.

After ten years and having graduating from high school, Jon was proud to join the sales team. While serving as the Territory Manager covering southern Alberta and BC, he also earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Calgary . After another eight years on the road, Jon moved back to Calgary to join the office and take on the role of Sales Manager. 

With a growing vision of what McCarthy could become, Jon was up to the challenges associated with a growing company. He wore a lot of hats over the years including VP of Sales, head of marketing and human resources. Jon even reprised his role in the warehouse, sweeping up when needed.

Jon’s dedication, commitment and hard work was recognized with a well-deserved promotion to company president in 2017. Never content to sit still, he then purchased the company which gave him the opportunity to further develop his vision of taking McCarthy where it is today while keeping an eye on the company’s future.

Jon has four furry children to accompany the three human ones that he shares with his amazing wife of 18 years. When the rare opportunity arises for some “me time”, Jon takes full advantage of living in Alberta and heads for the nearby mountains.
